Stay on shared hosting
- The thing you are running is a website. WordPress, a shop theme, a few PHP apps.
- You want SSL, SFTP and a panel, not a kernel.
- You do not need a port other than 80 and 443.
- You do not want to be paged because you forgot to patch OpenSSH.
That is most people. The WordPress page is written for them.
Move to a VPS
- You need root: Docker, a queue, a language the panel does not offer.
- You need a dedicated IPv4 that you can point any service at.
- You need isolation from other sites on the same box.
- You are fine being the person who runs
apt upgrade.

Do not use a VPS as a disguised game server
Minecraft, Rust and the rest have panels, slots and support on ValueGameNode. We will not sell you a quiet โgame VPSโ tile on VGNCloud to dodge that. Honest version: game hosting belongs there. If you still want a raw Linux box for a custom stack, the VPS is that box โ you install it.
