How to choose a VPS plan

Pick a VGNCloud VPS without fake benchmarks. Start from memory, guess small, move up later. S1, M2 and L4 are named on the /vps page with live specs.

Do not start from cores. Memory is what runs out first, and when it runs out the service falls over. Too few cores just make things slower. Read the memory column on the VPS page, pick the plan that fits what you are actually running, and stop comparing the rest.

The live catalogue is the source of truth. Prices and exact vCPU / RAM / disk / traffic figures live there because they come from the same rows checkout uses. This page will not reprint them and then drift.

The names: S, M, L

Plans are named with a letter and a number โ€” S1, M2, L4, and so on. The letter is the shelf:

  • S โ€” a side project, a bot, a staging box.
  • M โ€” a real site with real traffic, or several services at once.
  • L โ€” databases, build agents, anything memory-hungry.

That grouping is how the sales page is laid out. It is a way to read the list, not a performance claim. We do not publish synthetic benchmarks. A number we measured on a quiet afternoon on a machine that is not yours is not a promise about yours.

Guess low

Moving up keeps your address, your data and your hostname. Nothing is reinstalled. The cost of guessing small is one message to us. The cost of guessing large is paying every month for headroom you never touch. We would rather sell you the smaller plan.

If you are not sure, write one sentence to contact: what the machine is for, and roughly how much traffic you expect. We will name a plan and say why. No sales call.

What is the same on every plan

  • Helsinki. One location.
  • Root, or your SSH key, from the first boot.
  • A dedicated IPv4 that survives a reinstall.
  • NVMe storage.
  • The CLOUD panel: power, console, firewall, reinstall, graphs.

Traffic is metered. Only outbound counts; incoming is free. Go over the allowance and you are billed โ‚ฌ1.30 per extra terabyte, pro rata. The machine is not throttled, not suspended, not cut off. The panel shows what this month has used, so the first you hear of it is not the invoice.

Limited availability

When current capacity is taken, ordering closes until we add more. That is not a countdown timer. It is the honest version of โ€œin stockโ€.

Operating systems: only images we have verified come up reachable. If the one you want is not in the list, ask. Setup is in the first-login guide.

Questions

Where do I buy a VPS?+

Live plans and prices are on the VPS page. This guide does not reprint them.

Is web hosting a better fit?+

If the job is a website, start on web hosting or WordPress hosting. A VPS is a machine with root.

Do you sell game servers on VGNCloud?+

No. Minecraft, Rust and other game servers are on ValueGameNode. A VPS is a Linux machine if you want to run your own stack.
