VGNCloud
A Linux VPS with root is a machine you run. On VGNCloud that is every VPS we list: Debian or Ubuntu, your packages, your ports. We do not sell a locked-down Linux box with a fake admin user. The longer explanation of the account itself is root access, explained. This page is the product.
What you get on the first boot
The machine is ready when the email arrives. Hostname, IPv4, the image you picked, and a root password unless you pasted a key. About two minutes. Details: first login and SSH. Change the mailed password. Add a key. Decide whether password login stays on.
What you can install
- Any package the image repositories have. Nginx, Caddy, Docker, a language we never heard of.
- Listeners on ports you open. The panel firewall sits outside the guest. You can lock yourself out. The console is how you get back in.
- Users, cron, queues, and services that have nothing to do with PHP.
Outbound SMTP stays closed unless we open it. That is not a surprise fee. It is how we keep the address off blocklists.
What we do not do
We do not patch the OS for you. Root means you run apt. We do not snapshot the disk yet. We do not run a game panel on this product. Minecraft and Rust have a home on ValueGameNode. If you want us to run a website, that is web hosting or managed hosting.
Which image
Only images we have booted and reached on their own address. The list is short on purpose. If the one you need is missing, ask. The VPS page says support can add an image. Pick the size from memory, not from cores. How to choose a plan.
First month
Updates, the panel firewall, and a backup you take yourself. Do not postpone those. First month on a VPS.
