VPS for WordPress

When WordPress belongs on a VPS, and when WordPress hosting is enough. You install the stack. Live plans stay on the VPS and WordPress pages.

A VPS for WordPress is a Linux machine you install yourself. One-click WordPress is a different product. It lives on the WordPress hosting page. Most sites belong there. This page is for the case where the panel is in the way, and you still want WordPress on a VPS.

Buy WordPress hosting when the site is a site

A brochure, a shop theme, a few blogs. You do not want to patch PHP. You do not need a custom daemon. SSL is included. Disk and databases are the real limits. That decision, side by side, is WordPress on a VPS vs web hosting. We do not repeat the hosting sales page here on purpose. It is the source of truth for those plans.

Buy a VPS when WordPress is only part of the stack

  • A queue, Redis, a worker, or a language the shared panel does not offer.
  • Nginx or Caddy you wrote, or a port that shared hosting will not open.
  • More than one serious site, and you want them isolated from neighbours.
  • You already know how to keep WordPress, PHP and the OS patched.

Root is yours from the first boot. So is the IPv4. Specs stay on the VPS page. First login is in the SSH guide.

What you install on the VPS

There is no one-click button. Typical stack: a web server (Nginx or Caddy), PHP-FPM, MariaDB or MySQL, then WordPress files and a database you create. Then TLS. Then a firewall rule for 80 and 443 in the CLOUD panel, plus whatever you need inside the guest. We will not paste a copy-me script that goes stale. If that paragraph already feels like work, stay on WordPress hosting.

A VPS will not make a neglected site fast

Caching plugins and a smaller image library beat an idle 4 GB box. If the site is slow today, measure it before you rent a kernel. A neglected VPS is slower and less safe than a tidy shared plan.

Moving an existing WordPress install

Copy files, import the database, point DNS. Downtime is the TTL. The same checklist works on hosting or a VPS: migrate a website. Keep the old plan paid until you have seen a clean day of traffic.

If you are still unsure

Write one sentence to contact: what the site does, and roughly how much traffic you expect. We will name WordPress hosting or a VPS plan and say why. No sales call. The cloud catalogue shows everything we actually sell.

Questions

Should I run WordPress on a VPS?+

Only if you need root, a custom stack, or isolation from neighbours. Most sites belong on the WordPress hosting page, not on a kernel you have to patch.

Do you install WordPress on the VPS for me?+

No. A VPS is a Linux machine. One-click WordPress lives on web hosting. On a VPS you install the web server, PHP, the database and WordPress yourself.

Will a VPS make a slow WordPress site fast?+

Not by itself. A neglected VPS is slower than a tidy shared plan. Measure the site, shrink the images, then decide if you even need a machine.
